Philippines Sofia Vergara sported the Dubai-based Filipino designer’s dress to the 70th annual Golden Globes. The Modern Family star showed off her curvy silhouette in a strapless black number that hugged her waist and displayed her assets. “My friend told me that so many designers wanted to dress up Sofia Vergara,” Cinco tells The STAR, “but luckily she chose my dress because it’s couture and crystallized.” It took over a hundred hours of beadwork and embroidery to complete the dress. Cinco says he was inspired by Hollywood glamour. The Golden Globe nominee’s garb reportedly generated over 500 tweets a minute. “I think she loved it,” he says. “She was happy with it. Getting a dress on an awards show red carpet is serious business and often a last-minute one. Cinco, thanks to his LA connections (namely Style PR, a showroom that represents the designer in the US), was able to get Vergara’s attention. But is he worried about the critics who can be vicious when it comes to the red “I’m not worried. I’m just happy that one of my couture gowns graced the red carpet and was worn by a stunning Latina at the Golden Globes, so I’m not thinking about the critics at the moment.” This isn’t Cinco’s first time at the rodeo. His name was recently linked to Lady Gaga’s. The singer attended a Chicago Bulls charity dinner, with her boyfriend, Vampire Diaries’ Taylor Kinney, sporting one of Cinco’s crystal-encrusted dresses. Designed specifically for Gaga, the gown boasts a mesh top and sleeves with intricate beadwork. The gown was originally fashioned for the performer’s perfume launch in London last November. Cinco spent five days working on the ensemble, only to be informed it couldn’t be used. “Lady Gaga put on weight so the dress didn’t fit her,” he says. “But she liked it a lot so she kept it with her.”
